Questions
Before you install
What does it cost?
Nothing. There is no payment method in the app and nothing is charged to you while LAYRD is in beta.
Every account gets 300 AI credits. One credit covers a piece's AI work — working out what it is and generating its studio packshot. Asking for a packshot again costs another, because it repeats the expensive half. Deleting a piece does not give its credit back.
Do I have to photograph everything one piece at a time?
No. Hand LAYRD a batch straight from your camera roll — a few pieces or a few hundred. Your phone spends about a minute preparing 250 photos, and after that the work happens on the server: you can close the app, and a notification tells you when your closet is ready.
A piece laid flat or on a hanger reads best. Photographs showing more than one person are skipped, because there is no way to tell whose clothes are whose.
Can I use a photo of a whole outfit?
Yes, and it is one of the better ways to start. LAYRD finds each piece you are wearing and saves it as its own item, so one photograph can fill several slots in your wardrobe at once.
What happens to my photographs?
They are stored privately — no other user can see your wardrobe, and there is no feature that shows one person's clothes to another.
To cut a garment out and work out what it is, your photograph is sent to Google's Gemini API. While LAYRD is in beta, screen recordings of your sessions are also captured unmasked, which means they show your garments and the text you type. Both of these are set out properly in the privacy policy, which is worth two minutes before you sign up.
What happens when the credits run out?
You can keep adding clothes. Backgrounds are still removed — you just stop getting the generated studio packshot, and the piece keeps the cut-out of your own photograph instead.
Does it work without a connection?
Browsing your wardrobe does. Adding pieces does not, because the processing happens on the server. An import that loses its connection waits and carries on when you are back online rather than failing — though on iPhone, swiping LAYRD out of the app switcher mid-upload does stop it, because iOS cancels a force-quit app's transfers.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Delete account. It happens immediately and cannot be undone — your account, profile, photos, wardrobe, outfits, wear log, calendar plans and AI correction records all go.
If you have uninstalled the app or cannot sign in, you can ask by email instead. The account deletion page has both routes and the full list of what is removed.
Is there an Android version?
Not yet publicly. An Android build exists but is internal only. The beta is iPhone, through TestFlight.
How do I install a TestFlight beta?
Install Apple's free TestFlight app from the App Store first, then open the LAYRD invitation link on the same iPhone. TestFlight builds expire and are replaced as new ones go out, so expect the app to ask you to update fairly often while the beta runs.
Something is wrong, or I have an idea
hello@getlayrd.app. It is a beta and the feedback genuinely changes what gets built next.
