Terms of service
The short version. Your clothes are yours, and your photographs stay yours — LAYRD only gets the permission it needs to run the app for you. In exchange: this is beta software, it is free for now, it can break, and you should not treat it as the only place your photographs exist.
Nothing here is meant to be a trick. If a clause reads as though it is, write to hello@getlayrd.app and it will be explained or fixed.
The agreement
These terms are between you and LAYRD, operated from Mumbai, India. By creating an account or using the app you accept them. If you do not, do not use LAYRD — and if you have already started, closing your account is always available by writing to hello@getlayrd.app.
The privacy policy forms part of these terms, and it is worth reading before the rest of this.
This is beta software
LAYRD is distributed through Apple's TestFlight while it is still being built. That has consequences you are agreeing to:
- Features change, and some are removed. A thing you rely on may not be there next build.
- It can be unavailable, and it can be wrong. There is no uptime commitment.
- Data can be lost. Keep your original photographs. LAYRD is not a backup, and you should not delete a photo from your phone because it is now in your LAYRD wardrobe.
- A TestFlight build stops working when it expires, or when the beta ends.
Your account
One account per person. Keep your password to yourself — anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got in.
You must be 18 or older to use LAYRD, and old enough to agree to a contract where you live.
Your photographs stay yours
You keep every right you have in the photographs you upload and the outfits you build. LAYRD claims no ownership of them.
To actually run the app, LAYRD needs your permission to store your photographs, resize them, send them to the processing services named in the privacy policy, generate packshots and thumbnails from them, and show them back to you. That permission is limited to operating and improving LAYRD, it is not exclusive, and it ends when you delete the content or close your account — except for the AI correction records described in the privacy policy, which are kept until you ask for them to be removed.
Your wardrobe is private. LAYRD does not publish it, and there is no feature that shows one person's clothes to another. Your photographs will not be used in marketing without asking you first.
Upload only photographs you have the right to upload, and do not upload photographs of other people who have not agreed to it.
What it costs, and the AI allowance
LAYRD is free during the beta. There is no payment method in the app and nothing is charged to you.
Every piece that goes through the AI — categorising it and generating its packshot — spends one credit from a fixed allowance attached to your account. Asking for a packshot to be generated again spends another, because it repeats the expensive part. Deleting a piece does not return its credit: the work was already done and paid for. Once the allowance is gone, LAYRD falls back to plain background removal.
If LAYRD later starts charging, you will be told before it affects you, and you will not be billed for anything you have not agreed to.
Using it reasonably
Do not:
- Upload anything unlawful, or anything sexual involving a minor.
- Try to break into other people's accounts, or read data that is not yours.
- Automate bulk access to the service, or work around the AI allowance.
- Take the service apart to rebuild it, beyond what the law expressly permits you to do.
What the AI produces
LAYRD's suggestions — the category it picks, the tags it writes, the packshot it draws, the duplicates it thinks it has found — are generated by machine learning models and are sometimes wrong. They are suggestions, presented for you to correct, and no guarantee is made about their accuracy.
A generated packshot is a rendering of your photograph, not a photograph. It may differ from the real garment in colour, texture or detail. Do not rely on one to describe an item you are selling or insuring.
Ending it
You can stop using LAYRD whenever you like. To close your account, go to Profile → Delete account in the app — it is immediate and permanent. The account deletion page explains what is removed, and how to ask by email if you cannot open the app.
Your access may be suspended or ended if you break these terms, if keeping the account running is causing harm to other users or to the service, or if the beta ends. Where it is reasonably possible you will be told first and given a chance to get your data out.
No warranty, and the limit of liability
LAYRD is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. It is not promised to be uninterrupted, error-free, or to suit any particular purpose.
To the extent the law allows, LAYRD is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost data or lost profits. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid to use LAYRD in the twelve months before the claim — which, during a free beta, is nothing.
None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local consumer law gives you, and nothing here takes those away.
Apple
You get LAYRD through the App Store and TestFlight, but your agreement is with LAYRD, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to support the app and is not responsible for it. Apple may enforce these terms as a third-party beneficiary of them.
Changes to these terms
These terms change as the app does, and the date at the top changes with them. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continuing to use LAYRD after a change means you accept it; if you do not, close your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Mumbai have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer somewhere else, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
